Dave,
I fear that your Mr. Hendry's prediction will be diastrously wrong. He is much like the guy who looks for slices of data to support his long held ideology. China will spend it way out of this...and they have the money to do it. They realize the consequences of not growing the economy and they are dilligently spending their ample surplus to do it. They have 1.3 billion people who want to be like and to spend like US citizens. Although they have a very low per capital income and per capital spending now they will eventually get it right and turn the country into a domestic demand (and neighboring country demand)driven economy. They and India have about 40% of the worlds population. They all are human therefore need 64 oz's of liquid, 1600 of basil calories and 500 work calories just as basic needs. Pretty soon they will develope (if not already) a taste for luxury. Time to listen to wiser minds like Charles Munger at Berkshire Hathaway who prides himself a empiricalist...the probabilities are China will be the economic leader in the future. By the way Dave please tell your readers about Henry Groppe!!!! They deserve to get an accurate forcast about the future of oil prices and supply. He has been much more better in his predictions that some of your putative experts you have quoted.

I like figure 5.

"The G20 leadership, who will meet in Pittsburgh in September ...need to define & implement policies to change the way the world works instead of posing for group photos and eating beef au jus." Seems as if you are hoping for solutions to fall like manna from the sky in September, and you are well located to get any shorts.

"The future is always impossible to predict,,," OK, Yogi, and here I thought it was the easiest thing to predict.
