Gas @$4.00 is not attractive, but gas plus NGL's is. Now there is additional interest being hyped in the Utica Shale formation which will be even more costly per well. My Marcellus decline curve analysis has your described early drop off, but may have a shallower long term decline. I don't see 40 year wells. Pa royalties rarely exceed 15% with 12.5% being more common. I'm looking at under 5 years for 50% production and no more than 10 years for 80+% production. Drillers in PA are now focused on areas with proven NGL's to raise revenue per well and proximity to transmission.
