ASPO-USA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Steve Andrews, an energy consultant and freelance writer for 25 years, bases out of Denver, Colorado. He has followed the peak oil issue since the early 1980s, and since 1996 he has delivered an estimated 40 presentations on peak oil and natural gas at conferences and various educational forums.

Jim Baldauf, is in the oil and gas business and lives in Austin, Texas. He has a background in communications and public education and has helped organize and speak at several peak oil outreach meetings in Texas during the last several years.

Debbie Cook, has served five years on the Huntington Beach, California City Council, serving as Mayor in 2002. She has served on many regional boards including SCAG Regional Council, SanDAG Borders Committee, Orange County Sanitation District, County of Orange Harbors, Beaches and Parks Commission, Pacific Cable Television Authority, State of California Desalination Task Force, and League of California Cities Administrative Policy Committee. She is currently serving as 1st VP for the Orange County Division of the League of California Cities. Debbie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth Science from Cal State Long Beach, a Jurisdoctorate from Western State College of Law, and a license to practice law in California. She is also a graduate of the Kennedy School of Government National Preparedness Leadership Initiative and Leadership Southern California.

Richard Lawrence, a platform engineer with Intel Corp., lives in Hudson, Massachusetts. At the ASPO 2004 conference, he led a discussion on modeling world oil. Since the mid-1980s, he has followed the peak oil debate and contributed to the discussion.

Sally Odland, a former geologist and project manager, has worked in mineral exploration, oil & gas exploration, environmental remediation, and exhibit design. She currently administers a division of research geophysicists at Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University. She holds advanced degrees in Geology and Business Administration and has written a peak oil MBA dissertation, “Strategic Choices for Managing the Transition from Peak Oil to a Reduced Petroleum Economy”. http://www.ldeo.columbia.edu/~odland/

Scott Pugh, a former nuclear submarine commanding officer who also served as dean of mathematics and science at the US Naval Academy. Since retiring from the Navy as a Captain in 2005 he has worked with Amory Lovins as Rocky Mountain Institute’s Military Principal to implement the strategies outlined in “Winning the Oil Endgame” and serves on the Defense Science Board DoD Energy Strategy Task Force. He lives in Annapolis, Maryland.

Ron Swenson, is an expert in solar and renewable energy technologies. He holds multiple technical degrees from StanfordUniversity including an MS in Mechanical Engineering. He has held numerous public service positions. View complete resume’.

Randy Udall, director of the non-profit Community Office of Resource Efficiency since 1994, lives in Carbondale, Colorado. Since the mid-1990s, Randy has presented an estimated 50 sessions about peak oil at national conferences, plus authored “When Will the Joyride End” (1998; posted on this website) and “Methane Madness” (2000).

Morey Wolfson is an energy policy and utility regulatory analyst who serves as the Utilities Program Manager for Colorado Governor Bill Ritter Jr.’s Energy Office. Prior to his service to the Governor he was an independent consultant serving non-profit organizations and a Denver-based architectural practice specializing in sustainable design. For 14 years he was the Executive Assistant to the Commissioners at the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. For 4 years he served a utility expert at the USDOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Federal Energy Management Program. In 2004 he helped lead Colorado’s successful popular initiative that voted to institute a Renewable Portfolio Standard.

Richard (Rick) Block - Retired businessman and energy watcher/investor living in New Jersey. Worked in media liaison and outreach for the 2006 Boston Conference and helps organize the ASPO-USA Conferences. Rick studied physics at Temple University and has been an owner of - and a consultant on energy efficiency for - a wide variety of manufacturing and retail businesses.
